or it is attracted to me. It works the same as other things, however. Too much of it and I become lost in myself, and lost in my sadness. That is probably why the light is there for me if I get too lost within the labyrinth of my own mind. The same goes for the light people. I am there to bring them back on their feet if they float too far away from reality.

See, the Mayans did not actually predict anything.
Nor did they say anything about what was going to happen on whatever day people think the world is going to end.
All they really did was stop their calendar on that day, and that was it. We don't know why they did it or how it happened it just happened.
They really didn't say anything about it.
Now, somewhere along the line one person started to get paranoid about the Mayan calendar ending on such a specific date. Maybe they just liked it? Well anyways, you know how rumors start. One person comes up with a 'brilliant' idea and starts spreading it around to other people, then they tell the story to other people, only a bit altered. Then those people spread it to other people in their OWN altered version of what they heard and so on.
So now it's gotten to a point where even the modern Mayans think that's what their ancestors were thinking about when they stopped the calendar.
The reason also why people believe this so much is because the Mayans were really smart people, I mean geniuses.
Smarter than some of the scientists today.
And they had predicted so many things to happen in the future that did so now everybody believes this damn rumor.
Sad thing is, people are actually going to suicide on that day not to find out that the rest of the world will wake up the next morning and nothing will have changed.
*Sigh*
I wish people were just smarter.
